We camped here because it was advertised as having showers... We didn't know that there were only 4 showers for the entire campground and 1 was usually out of service. The lines to use the showers commonly reached 20 people deep every night during our stay. I also have a suspicion that people who weren't camping in the campground drove in at night to use the shower too.
Other than that it was nice. Facilities were clean, campground was quiet at night, plenty of shade...

it was a nice peaceful area to camp. i liked that there showers to use(although not much hot water). Was nice to use after a long day of hiking. I had Camp spot C124. It's not too far away from bathroom so it's a couple spots away from bathroom so not a far walk late at night if you need to use the bathroom. Spot has a little bit of protection from the sun when it's setting but kind of exposed in morning and afternoon.

There are some very nice looking sites in St Mary CG but C148 is not one of them. Being the site right by the only shower house in the loop, people walked right through our site and waited for the showers pretty much right in the campsite. Not really surprising since it does not look like a campsite but more like a parking lot. It was also the closest place to park near the amphitheater which also invited folks to walk right through our campsite. There are no trees so perhaps a shelter would make this site more appealing and less like a parking lot? Maybe plant some native trees? It is an ADA accessible site but what a shame for wheelchair bound guests to have to camp in such a pitiful site. You are better than this National Park Service!!

Large campground within walking distance of the St Mary Visitor Center where you can catch the 'Going to the Sun Road' shuttles. The sites were good size. There was a bear box (for food storage) right across the road from our site, and bathrooms and water were close. The bathrooms had running water, lights, and outlets. There is very little shade on much of loops B and C and the afternoons were hot. Some parts of loop A had older, larger trees and nice shade.
