What Guests Are Saying
Holter Lake Campground offers beautiful, well-maintained sites with friendly and helpful staff, providing stunning views of the lake and various recreational activities like fishing and boating. Many guests appreciate the cleanliness, convenient boat launch, and the inviting atmosphere created by fellow campers. However, issues such as noise disturbances, reservation challenges, and limited amenities like electricity and dump stations have been noted, particularly during busy weekends.

Outstanding improvement in the Camp Host selection. They were on top of any issues before they got out of hand. Well run and a giant improvement over the older first come system. Great place to camp in Montana.

The campground was nice, but making the reservation through your online system was difficult. Your online reservation system asks us about what our camping equipment is, one selection is a large tent, which further says 12' or larger, then then another option of a small tent. We selected small tent and also a small camping trailer. We were then charged according to our selection. When we arrived at the Holter Lake campground they said we had to pay for our tent again because it was not listed on our reservation. Your either need to correct your equipment selection on the website or inform the curators at the camp ground to stop charging for small tents!

Campground is very tight for 5th wheels in many sites - be sure to check the length online, although difficult to tell how the road is where you'll be backing in from. A lot of tight curves make some of them really hard to maneuver. Appreciated having water close to our campsite since we had issues with water leaking from a valve.

Clean restroom lovely views. Big dock for boats all around clean place. The only bad thing was how narrow it was to back into the camping spot.

few things.....they need to keep the lawn areas mowed/trimmed better and also WATERED, the place is burning up!....And the weeds have become a hugh problem here.....They need to spray either early or in Sept to get rid of them....weeds are terrible now. We have been coming to this campground for 12 years and this year the area looks the worst it ever has. Another complaint is that the new host wouldn't let my family's dogs swim in the lake and they weren't near the swim area......said it's a rule! The lake doesn't belong to BLM...they do keep the dog on a leash all the time too. That is uncalled for.

Holter Lake is beautiful. It's a hike to get to, but it is a good place to park for the night if it's on the way. BE AWARE there is NO DUMP STATION at this RV park and the closest one is about an hour away. The bathroom is a vault toilet and is kept very clean. There is a little beach area you can swim and paddleboard from. There were quite a few motor boats on the lake since it's a marina as well.

Very uneven parking site, no water anywhere near to fill trailer, zero shade in 90% of the trailer spots, and most spots are very close to one another. Nicer place to visit possibly in Fall or Spring with cooler temps, but not so nice when it's 90.

Great site! Great Campground Hosts! Everyone was respectful of the 10:00 p.m. "generators off" curfew!
