Beautiful campground. I do wish some of the information signs could be repaired or updated as they are getting hard to read. I wish the visitor center had been open. I always spend money in visitor centers and I like to learn about the area. Most visitor centers are excellent sources of information. The campground was very clean.

Great views and experience, even in the high winds. Attentive camp host, clean site and easy to get in and out. Only negative was that we did miss getting to visit the office which never opened because the attendant is ill. The camphost gave us a brochure and did all he could. Wanted to purchase a sticker and other souvenirs for the grandkids but couldn't. Hope the attendant recovers!

It was unusually windy while we were there, but Valley of Fires is well worth the trip. The paved hiking path through the lava field is great. The RV sites are level, the restrooms were clean, and the Camp Host was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this as a layover spot.

Valley of Fires is a gem of a campground near Carrizozo, NM! Nicely spaced campsites offer views in any direction. I stayed at campsite 17 (non-electric) in a Dodge Ram Promaster van and was able to maneuver into a nice level place for the night with a lovely view. The bathrooms here have always been in my experience (4 times now) immaculate, including the pit toilets. I love the trail through the lava flow and to the little peak that offers a fantastic view at sunset. Clean, safe, and beautiful, a great base camp to explore the area!

The campground host does an excellent job of keeping the place tidy and is sociable and helpful to the people staying there. The bathroom renovation is much appreciated. Place looks great.
This was our second stay there and we look forward to visiting again.
