What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground at Chaco Canyon offers a beautiful, serene experience with well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and potable water. Campers appreciate the stunning night skies and the opportunity to explore significant historical sites with fewer visitors. While some campers noted issues with noise from others and a lack of privacy between sites, the overall atmosphere is peaceful, and many look forward to returning for another stay.

When we arrived at Gallo, we were greated by the hosts, Norman and Clarice. They spent time with us discussing the campground and the park in general. They were very accomodating and we really appreciated the time they spent with us. The water was turned off, but the park did a great job providing port-a-johns and fresh water.
We had a great time hiking and camping at the park. The visitor center was kind and accommodating.

Spaces are somewhat close. Hosts were super helpful. Roads in are very rough - no clearance issues, just it washboards and bedrock.

Very well kept campground. While we were there over three days there was not any water service available. Bathrooms at campground as well as visiter center were closed. Porta-Potty were provided as well a 5-gallon jugs for drinking water.

Although no water due to issues the campground host was first rate and deserves credit

The portable outhouses were full. They need service much more often than they’re getting. They are a sanitation hazard.
The obvious solution is to restore water to the rest rooms. Guess the administrators have different priorities.

Gallo is a beautiful campground in the middle of Chaco Canyon. Unfortunately half of it is now closed due to falling rocks, so it becomes a little crowded sometimes. When we were there no water was available but we had been warned by mail and the recreation app so we came prepared with more than enough water. - The park staff was super friendly as always: during the day, while we were hiking, our tent was almost blown away by strong winds. A ranger fixed it with stones and our water canisters so no damage happened - THANK YOU!!! At the visitor center while we were waiting at the parking lot a ranger came out of the building to remind us about a ranger talk at Pueblo Bonito - how nice! Overall, an excellent experience. Want to come back soon!
