Beautiful campground right in the heart of Chaco. Due to the geography there is no shade, so be prepared. Level sites, well-maintained grounds.

Fire pit was clean, camp host was nice. Restroom was very good with a cold water drinking fountain. I highly recommend the Visitors center sell Ice or have a vendor do it for a reasonable price, you have electric there, so why not in June, July, August... Safety Issue. Camp host had WiFi, so why not broadcast it a few hundred yards to the South, safety issue, people can be contacted and visitors can check on family members. So simple and inexpensive.

Amazing location with ruins and towering sandstone right at your door step. Amazing campfire chat led by Park Ranger Colin capped off and amazing stay at Gallo campground! Can't wait to get back!

If you're visiting Chaco in the summer beware that this campground has NO SHADE! At all. There's little reprieve throughout the entire park from the sun. We ended up leaving a day early even though we paid for two nights for this reason. I almost suffered heat shock. That being said, the campground was clean. It was wonderful having running water and toilets at the campground. The camp host was friendly and helpful. The tent pad sites were clean and nice.

Peaceful and quiet, and then off to the park first thing while still cool. A magical place, my favorite in all of New Mexico.

Gallo Campground was a great choice while visiting Chaco Culture. The nearest hotel is over an hour away. I was able to view the breathtaking starscape a lot more knowing that all I had to do was crawl into my sleeping bag afterwards instead of making a long drive in the dark. The stars were really amazing since there is so little light pollution out there (hence the hour plus drive).
