As most visitors have said the two roads to the campground and visitor's center are very rough especially when pulling a camper - you just need to take them slow and be mindful of the conditions (it is best to try and reach the turn offs from the main highways fairly early in the day so you don't have to drive the dirt in the dark). The campground is very basic but that isn't the reason for visiting the area. Windy conditions made our stay a little uncomfortable, but it was still a very worthwhile trip.

Great facilities, you are in New Mexico so wind is a feature, up the canyon during the day, down at night. Plumbed bathrooms and there are sand filled tent pads and a fire pit, they seem to half lost 60% of the spots to rock falls, so booking ahead is important. It is Chaco though, so the less time spent in camp and the more time exploring, the better a time you’ll have.

I can't imagine why the campground description emphasizes that the camping is primitive, no water available, etc. Gallo has HEATED bathrooms with flushing toilets, running water, a water fountain w bottle filler, etc. It seems well maintained. Only issue was the sandbox tent pad we had was filled with some kind of dirt packed hard as concrete. We had to break it up with a trowel to sleep on it. Love Chaco.

This is a terrible campground. the Tent pad was not big enough for the two tents we had. The campsites are so close together we were "camping with strangers " on both sides of our campsite. This campground design is in callous disregard for the quality experience of the campers. The overall site has abundant space to have been designed better.

Host was great!! Bathrooms were super clean.
Dump station was out of order and the roads in and out were awful. Acctually broke the hot water heater anode off during travel on the crappy roads.
It would be awsome if there were a place to buy some Ice within the park.

General
- There are no services available, bring plenty of food and water for your visit.
- There are no hookups.
- Picnic table and fire ring (with a grill) are provided at each site.
- Firewood and charcoal are not available in the park. Wood gathering is not permitted.
- Drinking water is available at the Visitor Center and at the Campground
- Dogs are allowed but restricted in some areas.
- Dogs must be on leash at all times and must be kept under control. Maximum leash length is 6 feet.
- RV and/or travel trailers must not exceed 35 feet (10.6 m) in length to drive on the roads in the Park. Check for size of limited parking space under each campsite's detail info if camping.
- Generator use is permitted only between the hours of: , and .
- Individual campsites are limited to two small vehicles at each site. Few campsites are for RV ONLY and does not have extra space for extra vehicle, and some campsites allow for either tent or small travel trailer or RV. PLease review detailed information on each campsite before reserving. Groups: if group sites are full, please make alternate plans for your overnight stay. Do not reserve multiple individual sites.
- All campsites are closed on the following days: Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
- Maximum Stay Limits: Camping is permitted for not more than at total of 30 days in any calendar year, with no more than 14 consecutive nights at any one time. Group campsites are limited to 30 days per group, per year and no more than 7 consecutive nights at a time. One individual is limited to two reservations per night.
- Campers that do not show up to their site or call the park by 11:00 a.m. on the second day of their reservation, forfeit the remainder of their reservation.
