What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

Very special campground. We feel that it is a sacred place. The sites are well kept. The toilet facilities are very clean.

We thoroughly enjoyed Gallo Campground—it was a great base from which to all the sites. My only wish is that there were an exhibit showing the pottery types (it wouldn’t have to be bigger than one case as part of the whole site museum). Otherwise the exhibit is not very sstisfactory

The only reason to stay at this campground is it’s proximity to the Chaco Canyon ruins, which are excellent. IMO the campground itself has no redeeming qualities other than a bathroom.

I appreciated the fact that tent campers had a designated area apart from the RVs. I sometimes think I am the last tent camper in the country, but the fact that the Gallo tent area was full proves me wrong.

Nice quiet campground, though very windy. That road coming in from the south ought to be closed. It’s dangerously rough.

I was in Site 10 which is wedged in between the bathrooms and the group sites. surprisingly, it was pretty quiet with only a few people from the group sites trying to cut through my campsite to get to the bathrooms. Overall the campground is quiet and everyone was good about observing quiet hours with most people lights out before 10PM. Chaco Culture park is a dark sky site so I stayed up late to watch the stars and pretty much was all by myself. The only real problem is getting a reservation since the sites are usually booked full almost a month in advance.

The hosts, Kim and Ken, were very informative, helpful, and friendly! The NOS needs more hosts like them at all the parks!
Thanks for providing a great camping opportunity out among the sites and stars!
