Great park that had full hookups. We enjoyed hiking around the lake. We even had a turkey walk right thru our campsite.

Unfortunately we only ended up staying one night of our reservation, because the forestry service created a burn ban. No campers could have a fire to keep warm (was in the 30's at night) and all the food we took had to be cooked, so it put a damper on our camping. The campground was nice, but certain campers, not so much. I don't understand people who like to yell and make loud noises in the middle of the night when people are trying to enjoy the quiet of nature and are trying to sleep. While this is not the campground's fault, no one seemed to hold them accountable either. Even in the day time, there were kids constantly yelling/screaming, banging on the metal bear boxes, etc. Made camping much less enjoyable. Parents need to teach their kids/teenagers to respect other people's experiences and to keep noise to a minimum, ESPECIALLY at night. Quiet hours were supposed to start I believe at 8pm, but that was pretty much ignored and apparently never enforced. Even when the camp staff went around informing each camp site of the burn ban, some campers continued on with creating fires. People who can't follow the rules and respect other campers sure do ruin it for the rest of us. Adults need to act like adults, and adults need to manage their children.

We enjoyed our stay @ Lake Powhatan. We explored the trails. The trails are well marked, and connected to The NC Arboretum. Staff were always pleasant and helpful.
