About Mount Pisgah Campground

One of the most popular of the Parkway's campgrounds, Mount Pisgah Campground is perched in the rolling mountains of western North Carolina on the southernmost end of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. Surrounded by dense hardwood forests at an elevation of 4980 feet, it offers shady, cool respite from the summer heat. Whichever end of the day appeals, spectacular sunrise and sunset panoramic views can be enjoyed from nearby overlooks. Several popular hiking trails, ranging from moderate to strenuous, are accessible from the campground. Drenched in history, this area was once part of the holdings of George Vanderbilt and the site of his hunting camp house, Buck Springs (no longer standing), is close by.

We were thrilled to get a one night reservation in late October. The location allowed us to explore so much more of the region with hikes at Soco Falls, Dry Falls, Potholes Falls, and Whitewater Falls and so much more. The check-in staff was incredibly friendly and our campervan location had a great view of Mt. Pisgah. In the morning we crossed over to the Inn for a glorious sunrise!
We like to share our adventures like this in our book β€œLiving With Wanda” by Dave McAda available on Amazon.

Everything was fine except for the dumping station. It was at or above 32% and it was still closed! If you have to shut it down camper should receive credit for the inconvenience and cost at other stations!

Stayed in loop C close to the restroom and it was a great spot. I didn’t love that I couldn’t pull my car directly onto my site next to my stuff since that few feet difference can really matter, but that’s my only comment. It was easy to get to from Asheville and you can’t miss it off the road, plus you can enjoy a nice bit of the parkway drive on the way. I left early due to the extreme weather so I didn’t get to explore the trail up to mount pisgah but this is a must return to spot for me.
