About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

This was our second time in the area and visiting Cedar Point. The grounds were well taken care of. One of the camp hosts, Mr. Robbie, was constantly blowing the leaves and pine needles from the sites, using a pole saw to trim back low hanging branches, making sure the speed limit was adhered to, etc. He also went out of his way to make our visit very special with how he interacted with our children and the great conversation we had. We hope he is still hosting this fall when we are back in the area.

This was our second visit to Cedar Point Campground. It was an after Christmas trip to relax after a busy, busy holiday. This was perfect. We never saw or heard a camp host or park ranger. Came, went to our site and relaxed. We visited Swansboro's shops and ate on two on the water restaurants. Saltwater Grill is our favorite. We drove to Emerald Isle and up the coast to Atlantic Beach then over to Morehead City and beyond to Beaufort for lunch one day. Beaufort is a busy shopping destination along the waterfront. On another day we visited
the Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. The Vietnam Memorial there is a must see. There are also memorials to Beirut, corpsmen, 911, Montfort Point Marines and others. We also did the Riverwalk at Wilmington (yes a bit far) but it runs along the Cape Fear River with lots of restaurants and a view of the Battleship NC.

The one shower to the left of the handicapped stall does have a good water flow and the water is hot. The other showers, including the handicapped stall, have very small and poor water streams and the water does not get even very warm.
