About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

The restrooms and showers are not well maintained. Pretty much all of the potable water faucets were broken. The campsites are clean.

We have camped here twice, quiet big sites, close to beach and shopping. On our last visit previous camper left dog waste on site and about midnight our neighbors decided to argue and fight, like the park and area will use frequently.

The camp sites are very nice but that the best thing I can say. Before hand I knew sites didn't have water, but by the map I found there was a water supply right by my site. We got all set up and went to fill my tank, but the water spigot is not designed to connect a common hose to. SO NOT WATER for the weekend. After walking the camp ground the sites in the back do have spigots you can connect a hose to in various locations. And there is one at the dump station area.
Now for the bath house. My daughter saw a rat run into a hole behind the middle stall. Also if you like to have warm water or even control the water temp, these showers do not have this option. You have to press a button and you get what you get. Plus this bath house was not keep very clean.

Two weeks before our stay I tried to get ahold of staff to ask some question. If they would have answered their phone maybe I would have known about the water hook up options. There is a camper there marked "Camp Hoist" but never saw them or any staff the stay. We ended up leaving a day early. After this being a 6 hour drive to get there, I probably will not be back.

The park is nice and close to Emerald Isle but the bathrooms are filthy and need maintenance.

It was a very hot week (mid 90s) for my middle school group to be camping. We usually book sites 1-5 to stay out of the general publics way. I do wish these sites had more shade but it is nice that I have a visual of the kids tents from my site. The bathrooms and showers were not clean and were out of soap when we arrived but thankfully they were freshened up that night. I would really like an option of using cold water. Brushing teeth in hot water and showering in hot water was awful when it was so hot outside. Kids had a good time and we liked having easy access to a hiking trail and the water access for canoeing. We'll be back in three years! :)

We have stayed here many times. One of our favorite local places to stay a few days. The camp hosts were doing a good job keeping it clean. A very quiet place to stay. We didn’t get to take the marsh hike as usual due to the very hot temperatures.
