We love visiting Cape Lookout. Each time we come we plan and pack better and we will do even better the next visit.
The only issue we had on this past visit that I feel you should know about was the roach issue. We have never had this issue before. I understand that we are on sand, near water and in the South etc but just wanted to share that they were everywhere. In the evenings they would actually run across bedding and drop from the ceilings on us while we were sleeping. We’ve visited several times and have never experienced this before.
Like I said we just love it there and this doesn’t stop us from coming back but thought we should let you know.
Thank you.

2 nights in Cabin 22 - 2 people/2 dogs /1 vehicle. Check in was quick and easy and ice is available. The screened porch was perfect for the dog's crate and to store the beach chairs, coolers, etc. There is a large folding table and a small folding table and 3(?) chairs with plenty of room to set up inside or out on the porch. Hooks outside for beach towels. Our first time camping with a small solar generator and we brought a lamp from home :) but didn't realize generator could be plugged in for overhead lighting. Plenty of hot water and the kitchen sink, shower and propane stove more than adequate for us. I don't think the oven worked but we didn't need it. This cabin is right next to Cabin 21 which blocked airflow a bit so bring a portable fan if you can. Met nice people next door. Tip *there is an outdoor spigot! Husband thought to pack a lightweight hose and it was great to rinse the beach chairs and dogs before heading home and rinse the salt off the car (hubby is picky lol) This cabin has short walk right out to the beach where we had campfires at sunset and then saw so many stars! Mattresses were fine for sleeping. Tried our hand at fishing along sound and surf, caught small fish and had a great time. Had no issues driving on the beach or back road in our SUV. Used the bath house last day and it was very clean. Upon checkout, I mentioned the cabin door lock was very difficult to open (key stuck) and we saw carpenter ant damage inside the front door each morning but the two ladies at the front office didn't seem to care. Bring bug spray and sunscreen and a small rug/doormat to help keep some sand out of the cabin! Davis Ferry was quick and easy and this cabin was affordable and was perfect for our quick getaway!

The cabins are holding up well! Use caution if walking between #8 and #11 where 9&10 used to be as there is still lots of glass shards exposed.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
