Cheoah Point Campground offers a beautiful and serene setting near Santeetlah Lake, with friendly and helpful hosts, clean bathrooms, and well-maintained facilities. While campsites are close together, many visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere and scenic views, making it a great spot for group camping. Some concerns include limited privacy at RV sites and occasional safety issues, but overall, guests look forward to returning for a peaceful retreat.

Reservable campsites are nice. We had 23 which was a bit wider than some and next to bath house. I only give 3 stars because the bath house needs work. It was fairly clean but is buggy. The camp ground has power and water but no dump. That limits the time you can stay.

Cheoah Point Campground is situated on a point on the very scenic and beautiful Lake Santeetlah in far Western NC. The views from the lake shore are gorgeous. But as for the campground itself, it is very small and all but 3 of the sites are RIGHT on the dirt and gravel campground road. And the 3 sites that are off the road are tent-only sites that you have to tote your gear down to from parking up on the campground loop road. We camped in one of 6 RV sites and were disappointed in how incredibly close together they all were and how small they were. Each RV site is only about 15 feet wide, very reminiscent of commercial campgrounds where the RVs are packed together like sardines. Furthermore, there are no water hookups at the RV sites - only electric. If you need water, there are spigots spaced out along the campground loop road where you can fill up water containers. Bottom line, Cheoah Point is a mixed bag. Gorgeous scenery, well off of the beaten path, and next to a very scenic lake. But, the campsites totally lack privacy, save for those three tent sites that are off the campground loop road.

Nice campground overall. The RV spaces with electric are a little close to each other but otherwise they are pretty nice. Close to the bath house and easy to pull in to.

Beware the Tail of the Dragon. Our GPS took us straight thru it which can be really nerve wracking towing a pop-up. Took a hour longer detour leaving to avoid it.
Electric sites are very close together. Fortunately there was nobody next to us but that site's electric box was under our awning. Felt a bit sorry for the camp host as he was dealing with a stray dog and homeless people using the showers. Seems like campers are there to ride the Dragon (hwy 129). Lots of motorcycles.

Campsites are pretty high up on a hill from the lake, however there is a public access to the lake. Campground surrounded by private residences. Drinking water spouts need to be ran at least three times to get clean water to come out. Cooling breeze from the lake up to the campsites would be great in the heat. Cell service very limited. Bathrooms/showers/bear boxes all good quality.

The sites are extremely close so if you're camping with friends it's fine, but if you're trying to get away from it all, you may be disappointed. There was no gate or check in per se. We had paid for our site online. The bathrooms are very basic and were cleaned daily. There was some traffic driving around the loop during the day and a few cars in the night but overall it was very quiet. You have limited access to the lake itself around the loop.
