What Guests Are Saying

Badin Lake Campground offers beautiful, quiet campsites with easy access to the lake and scenic trails, making it a popular choice for families and solo campers alike. Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and respectful neighbors, with several expressing their intention to return. However, there are consistent concerns regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathrooms and showers, along with issues related to parking and management that could be improved.

The lake was lovely and we enjoyed hiking and biking down to the point.

My one problem is that there are only 4 total stalls as restrooms at the lower level campsites and they are only cleaned every 3 days, even in the summer! (I could see the calendar/sign in on the back of the door.) Ours was cleaned on Thursday before the weekend and then mens room was locked from the inside, so everyone used the ladies room and it was filthy. The host didn’t have a key, and the other bathroom sometimes had a line for the ladies room. This wasn’t the comfort level I’m used to at NC State Parks.

Overall very nice, clean and quiet. Great views and access to the lake and trails. The men's restroom was out of order for 2 days during my 4 night stay which necessitated a bit (not too far) of a walk to the other restroom in the campground. It would make more sense to just make the showers and toilets non-gender specific as they are designed for sole occupancy anyway.

The site was easy to reach, and set up took very little time. The scenery was beautiful. The amenities were decent, but could use a little work: locks need repair, new light bulbs are needed, and the water in the shower could be a touch warmer. However, on balance, the experience was wonderful, and we intend to return again for more camping. Hats off to the Forestry Service for the roads and camping sites!

I’ve been to this location twice. Both times it was extremely clean and everyone was friendly. The views are beautiful and camping spots are well maintained.
