What Guests Are Saying

Canebrake Horse Camp is a popular destination known for its clean facilities, well-maintained trails, and a pleasant atmosphere for horse camping. Many visitors appreciate the quiet environment and the helpful camp host, though some concerns were raised about the presence of non-horse campers and a decline in maintenance. Overall, the campground offers a great experience for equestrian enthusiasts, although improvements in oversight and facility upkeep are desired.

I love camping there, but this time they had a control burn going on! The smoke was awful! They should have emailed us to let us choose to come another time! But they didn’t. It was a very bad experience! Not only is breathing in the smoke but our horses also! We had spent time and money driving to Canebrake. 🔥🥲

Nice horse camp. Did arrive to someone getting set up in our reserved site. If you do not have reservations, check the sign every site has showing if it’s booked or open. I can tell BCH Uwharrie has been busy! The trails were much better!

This is a very nice horsecamp. We had electric hooks up and the bathhouse was in great shape. There are a lot of spur trails so it is easy to get lost, but its a great place to camp and ride!

Love the trails in the Uwharries. New trail markers stand out but a bit confusing since old trail colors are on trees and maps.Understand new map will be coming out next year. Love the large private sites. Campground host was available and helpful.

I am an equestrian and would like to see that this particular camp is limited to equestrians. With a number of regular camping options in this area it seems to be reasonable to request this camp be limited to equestrian campers. The non equestrian campers often do not understand the safety concerns while being around equine and will entertain themselves in camp like playing soccer and riding bicycles too close to riders. I am sure they are not trying to be dangerous but this is going to cause someone or an equine to get hurt.
We only have limited camping areas and the regular camping options are much more available.
Thank You for your consideration

The camp was clean and quiet. I really like the site without the mats, they're slick so I'm glad this site is dirt for the horses.

Canebrake is one of the best horsecamps we've been to. Site are perfect, nice level spot, maps were available. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Easy in and out of camp.
Trails were great but need better signage. Looks like the new diamond makers are going to be a great improvement!
We will definitely make a return visit!
