What Guests Are Saying
Tahkenitch Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere with ample opportunities for exploration, including nearby hiking trails and access to the beach. Many campers appreciate the privacy of certain sites and the clean, well-maintained facilities, although some noted issues with the reservation system and bathroom accessibility. While road noise and mosquitoes were concerns for some, overall experiences highlight the campground's charm and potential for enjoyable stays amidst the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.

Lovely, well-kept campground with a nice lil hike next to it. 4 stars only because I really wish there was shower facility.

Showers available a 6 miles away at driftwood campground, mossy trees, and pine smell make tahkenitch a great choice.

We had just pulled in to stay one night but left knowing we want to go back and spend a few night!!! We loved how private each site was. We have a travel trailer and there are only a couple spots that will accommodate its size. Most spots are tent and camper sizes. The fire pit was the best we had ever seen. Sounds silly but it sure cooked up a good burger!!! Oh if you are needing your wifi or phone contact you won't want to stay here. NO SERVICE was wonderful!!!!! We can't wait plan our next visit!

This is a reserve only campground, which is great, UNLESS there is no host and homeless people are living in it. The people in the spot next to us reserved a spot at the campground and upon arrival, found people living in their reserved spot. Not only that, but the homeless people had their dog loose with no collar. The dog came into our camp and I had to chase it off. The homeless people stayed up until about 4 am each night banging doors, yelling at each other, using a chainsaw in different areas of the campground, etc. It was a horrible experience. Not only that, but the sheriff was called on them a few nights earlier and nothing was done about it. Not a safe feeling.

We headed here when the campground we originally wanted was full. A fine place to sleep for the night but not the “beach camping” experience we were looking for.

I stayed in site 5 with my very small travel trailer. The campground is beautiful and very quiet and the bathroom was clean. There was a little road noise but this is right on hwy 101 and conveniently located close to florence and lakes and dunes and tons of fun

All the amenities were clean and functional, and the camp host was very nice!
Mosquitoes were worse than we expected and even though we called the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area visitor center, the staff person there really had no idea how the mosquitoes were at the campground and said not to worry about them. She thought they would be minimal. That wasn't the case. It would be nice if there was a Facebook page for this campground, like other campgrounds have, alerting visitors to current conditions.

There was no camp host. When we arrived there were two men camped in our reserved spot. They were cooperative and packed up, but it could have gotten ugly. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom the next morning. The two stars are for Ranger Chessa, who was so helpful, listened to our scary story, and literally ran to get me toilet paper. The other star is for the trail to the ocean and through the forest, which never disappoints.

Loved this woodsy place. Campsites are space well. There's a couple close ones but for the most part there was a great selection

There is no host at this campground this year. Which explains why there was litter all over the park, including in my campsite. Also explains why noise regulations seem to be out the window. I like the coastal parks and usually they are clean and quiet. Not this time.
