What Guests Are Saying
Tahkenitch Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere with ample opportunities for exploration, including nearby hiking trails and access to the beach. Many campers appreciate the privacy of certain sites and the clean, well-maintained facilities, although some noted issues with the reservation system and bathroom accessibility. While road noise and mosquitoes were concerns for some, overall experiences highlight the campground's charm and potential for enjoyable stays amidst the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.

The bathrooms were locked, the table at our site was rotted and not use able. No host on site. I will never stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed the campground. It is pretty tight. The road is Okay but most of the sites are built to accommodate tenting, class C vehicles or small trailers. We were in space 07 with our trailer and pickup with an overall length of about 38 ft. I don't think any of the sites or the road would be suitable for any but the smallest class A's. There is good water and lots of shade!
The fire pits are unusually tall metal things, around 2 ft. high, that block most of the heat if you want to sit around the fire, Weird for enjoying a nice campfire.
There are a couple trails over the sand dunes to the ocean. The lakes in the area are beautiful and nice for canoes or kayaks.

Pretty spot, but loud hwy noise. Lots of confusion between Tahkenitch and Tahkenitch Landing campground from nearly everyone who pulled in. Bathrooms not working but men's unlocked and costs the same. One vault toilet for entire campground.

Very nice campground, just be aware that many of the sites that say they can fit a trailer cannot. If you are pulling a camper, you may want to check ahead to make sure there is actually room for it to fit…. Also, love how there is hiking trails to the beach right there and it is close to the lake

There is a lot to do AROUND this campground (including a great dunes hike loop that starts at the parking lot, tahkenitch lake across the highway). The campground itself? Very small, largely uneven sites with tent site VERY close to the fire ring, no general open area except for heavily used day use area outside of the campground. Clean, but small. And RIGHT on highway with abundant road noise. Trees provide some privacy at some sites. Bathrooms were clean, but only 1 of two stalls was in order. Biggest problem was that there was apparently double booking of our site (host was expecting someone else - but they never showed). Not sure but seems like this is a Recreation.gov problem that should be solved/addressed. Overall? Good safe place to pitch a tent in a pinch and we had a good time in the area but I would not choose this campground again.

Avoid campsite 22 at all cost. It is extremely small, and it is on the way to campsite 21. Thus, there is no privacy. There is also road noise from 101. The campground is also crowded and cramped.

The campground is nice. The only thing we didn't care for were the fact that most of the sites were accessed by stairs or step type areas. And from what we could tell, a lot of the sites were meant to share with another family. They were close together with no privacy. Or you had to walk through one to get to another. But not all of them are like that. I would suggest a visit to scout good sites ahead of time before booking. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. The hiking trails are really nice!
