What Guests Are Saying
Tahkenitch Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere with ample opportunities for exploration, including nearby hiking trails and access to the beach. Many campers appreciate the privacy of certain sites and the clean, well-maintained facilities, although some noted issues with the reservation system and bathroom accessibility. While road noise and mosquitoes were concerns for some, overall experiences highlight the campground's charm and potential for enjoyable stays amidst the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.

Park was clean and well maintained. Camp host was very helpful. Only reason I didn't give five stars was the toilet in the mens restroom wouldn't flush.

As others have said, road noise is present on the campsite, but the sites have nice facilities and mostly clean. Men's bathroom was also closed

I really like this campground for its unusual campsites. There are steps that lead to in the woods campsites. The noise from 101 is a turn off, but the 7 mile hike trail is the reason to go. Combination of ocean, woods, lake and dunes; what more could you ask for?

This campground is centrally located in between Florence and Coos Bay. It is situated in a grove of fir trees which makes it a bit dark for my taste. Unique parking situation is not too bad. You share parking with 3 other campers and walk to your camp site. Mostly private with shrubs in between each site.

Camp sites are small, on top of each other, and right next to the road. Toilets were broken when we were there - but that could happen anywhere. It was smaller than some of the nearby large campgrounds which is nice. Beautiful area with access to lakes, dunes, hikes, etc.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quiet and peace we found here! The camp host kept their distance (we’ve had hosts invade our privacy many times) The bathrooms were clean, and the activities near by were great. Kid and Dog friendly. The hike to the beach was rough with the little ones but we made it!!
The one and only thing we were a bit unhappy with was the proximity between campsites, and how they all seem to be attached to one another. We had site #30, and once we used our tent to block the path to #29 it was private enough for our little family.

We have camped at this campground for over 40 years. Our only complaint is the new (10 years old now) restrooms. They are always having problems with them. At times they only have "blue rooms" outside the restrooms to use. Thankfully there is a pit toilet to use. If the Forest Service could come in and totally remodel the system it would be a great improvement. Next year we are going to Carter Lake and break our long tradition at Tahkenitch.
