We spent one night at LePage Park and had a nice time while we were there. The park is located on the banks of the John Day River, where it flows into the Columbia River. There is a small swimming area and a large day use area for boaters and picnicking. There is also a tenting area as well.
The campground itself has power and water at the sites along with a dump site near the entry that has quite good access for larger vehicles.
Some sites, like #5, are right on the river's bank and offer amazing views of the hills surrounding the John Day and Columbia rivers. Each campsite is paved, and they are closer to each other than at other campgrounds, but not uncomfortably close. The pit toilet was clean and well stocked. Interestingly, even with the Interstate fairly close to the park, the noise was not disrupting to sleep, at least inside an RV, and lights from the vehicles were mostly blocked by the rail on the bridge.
One of the enjoyable parts of our stay was watching the surrounding hills with the wind turbines in the evening sunset.
While Le Page Park may not be for everyone, it was a welcome respite after a hot day on the road. Boaters should find this park particularly nice with the pull through sites, ample boat trailer parking, nice launch and dock facilities, and area for picnicking. All in all, it was a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

Great campground on the river with electricity. Convenient location, right on I-84.
But, be aware, campground sites are small and focused on boating, back-in sites were quite close together. We didn't have a drive-through site along river, they were much roomier.
The amenities included showers, but they only had cold water and were located by the day-use parking area.

I will never camp at that place again. Our campsite was super far from the parking lot and it was such a pain to carry all of our camping gear that far. Almost all of the campsites were on a slope with no flat spots to set up a tent. The swimming area was disgusting. It was full of nasty weeds that got tangled around your feet if you tried to go in, and there were tons of goat heads on the beach. There were no faucets to get drinking water. The only place we could get water was in the bathroom sink. I have such fond memories of going there as a child, but it is a horrible spot to go to now.

Nice campground. Back in sites are rather close to each other, but a nice place for 1 night as a stop over. Didn’t use the facilities except for the dump. Dump is free if you’re camping there. Kind of a steep and tight road driving down to the campground.
Host was very nice.

we were in #3 my favorite space reserved 6 months in advance. after setting up on a very hot day i had just sat down to enjoy our first of 14 days and oh ya you already knew that the power was going to fail! My wife was not happy! no fans no AC. 100 pluss!
Ho by the way a coupled that the same problems. No juice. found a way to stay cool. They went to the swimming area and pulled grass for two days. Then there is the bath rooms the urinal not repaired just blocked off. And what about the sidewalk there? You guys can not afford cement 2nd year Just forms and its blocked off too..
I love going to Lepage Gate keepers are nice and so are most all of the workers.
All i can say is IF YOUR GOING TO DO IT DO IT RIGHT.
Like the people that pulled the grass from the swim area while they were on vacation.

Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed right on the river in an easy pull through site. Clean.

Cool campground next to the water. Site T3 has some shade from a large tree which is nice, though only partial coverage. Site has flush toilets and showers. Bring your own hand soap, there is some hand santizer available. It’s fairly windy, which is nice when it is hot out

The accomodations were okay, The water pressure was too high and we didn't have a regulator on our hose, so it blew out our water tank in our trailer. Just a heads up to others- and maybe faucets could be installed that regulate it somewhat, we noticed some do have faucets on them. But the one we were in does not. It was a big repair bill.
Water became unusable during our stay due to testing the park received. Not sure how this can be avoided in the future?
Winds probably always blow in this area, but one day of our 3 day stay they were extremely high and it made it impossible to do anything.
Very helpful and friendly camp hosts.
