What Guests Are Saying
Sheridan Lake offers great tent and RV camping with spacious, shaded sites and a beautiful lakeside location, perfect for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The clean facilities and friendly hosts enhance the overall experience, despite some concerns about limited infrastructure and cellular service. While some campers noted noise from generators and construction, many found the setting peaceful and enjoyable, making it a desirable spot for future visits.

Great place to camp. Lots of room between sights. It’s great paddle boarding every day. Lots to do close by. We will return again.

We had a great time at Lake Sheridan. We traveled 6,400 miles and it was one of our favorite spots. We only spent two nights there, but it was very relaxing. We will be returning and staying for a much longer stay.

The camp hosts were very nice and helpful. The site was right on the lake and had a fabulous view. There was a decent amount of space between us and our neighbors even though there wasn't really any trees for privacy. It didn't matter. Bathrooms were pretty clean for such a busy weekend. Loved swimming in the lake just off the rocks down the hill from where we were camping. Not a fan of the beach, though. Mucky.

As tent campers who intentionally chose a tent-only site (we actually thought it was a tent-only loop), we were looking for a quiet nature experience. Being surrounded by engine noise 24/7 at home, camping is the way to experience the peace, quiet, and beauty of the natural world. But this was definitely NOT a quiet nature experience. The neighbors' trailers 30 feet from our sleeping bags were running generators at sunrise, boats and screaming partiers parked right off shore from our site all day, and people kept walking right through our campsite next to our tent (even when we were sleeping!) to access the lake, even though there is fishing access literally EVERYWHERE on the shore, plus two designated swim beaches. Oh yeah, and then there were all the campers riding their ATVs through the campsite all evening and morning. Cuz I guess 50 feet is too far to walk to the bathroom and dumpster (which they clearly didn't need because they came in a @#$% tour bus with flushies). ><
We were kept from sleeping until nearly midnight on two nights of our four night stay because of the trailers and trucks revving engines late into the night. Apparently, using a monster truck to back an apartment complex into a lakeside campsite for 45 minutes at 10PM is totally normal and fine for other people. For us, and our young sleeping children, it was horrible.
The lake is beautiful, the fishing is good, and the weather was delightful. It was the people and their disrespect for others and their carelessness that were the problem. We traveled 7 hours to stay in the South Dakota wilderness. We had even toured the entire lake and campground area the previous year on a fishing trip, and it seemed so quiet and calm. That's why we chose it. But I guess daytime fishing from shore is the quiet anomaly; the overnight and morning experiences of other people's engines, motors, generators, loud city voices, and plastic trash absolutely ruined the experience for us.

Nice campground and spread out campsites. Sheridan Lake great for kayaking and fishing, close to local attractions. Some of the vault toilets were very old, some are much nicer and new.

First off. The hosts were awesome. The lady at the front check in was nice. The older man (grounds keeper) riding ATV cleaning has no people skills so stay away. He doesn't even acknowledge other people. Other than that the place was nice. We had a trailer but I did check out the toilets,. Not great and full of flies. But it's camping. Luckily I had a trailer with a bathroom. Lake area was beautiful and did not get full. Would stay again. No cell signal. Enjoy nature and conversation.

Loved this campsite. Great sites and environment, close to lots of nearby hikes and east drive to Black Hills attractions. Only downside is lack of dump facility, but the 3 Forks campground 3 miles away will let you dump for a fee.

This campground was amazing! Beautiful views and plenty of space- we really appreciated that the campsites were spread out enough that it was quiet and we felt there was some privacy. Our kids had enough room to run around and play.
The beach area was a great place to go play in the water.
