What Guests Are Saying
Thunder Rock Campground features friendly and helpful hosts, a clean bathhouse, and a great location for outdoor activities like paddling and biking. Many campers appreciate the serene atmosphere by the Ocoee River, with well-maintained sites and good facilities. However, some sites may flood during heavy rain, and there are occasional issues with road noise and amenities like hand soap in the bathrooms that could be improved.

My family and I reserved from fryday to monday. We arrived on Saturday and out spot was picked for someone else. We contacted the host and ahe explained to us that we have to check in 24hrs before out check in date. We did not know that. She was very nice and found another camp site for us. So be aware you have to check to keep your camping spot.

The host is there but pretty much nonexistent. Did not know how to check in for a reservation and read everything on the board and still had no clue.
I was in site 1 and when i say the rushing water was loud im not joking. No service on att and tmobile. I was there for only an hour and within that time my car was swamped with fire ants and spiders. Plus the site was dirty with rubbish. Clearly the host isnt really a host more a land renter. Site 1 is also located right next to the trail parking so zero privacy and you have to question why am i paying when they dont have too for literally the same kind of spot, if not cleaner. Ended up leaving and staying at cherokee rest stop 15min down the road. Will not recommend or be back to this campground.

Great improvements noted. I think the non flush toilets were cleaned out. Still had a few days of not TP though. Great job on gravel driveway and nice hot water in showers.

The campsite appeared decent, but prior to our stay, a storm had passed through and knocked a branch down into our intended campsite. The hostess did accommodate the selection of a new site. However, the site also did not have potable water due to power failure, and we were not alerted to this situation until arriving. Indubitably, the camp site was in disarray due to the storm, but it would have been nice to be alerted to the lack of potable water before arriving.

Able to see river rafters from camp, very clean and beautiful, site drained well in rain and grounds were peaceful

We love this campground! Well-kept campground. Plenty of nature hikes, Ocoee River is right there and has a park where you can go and play on the rocks! Plenty of kayaking spots if you're into that and its near enough to McKaysville to pick up any essentials you left behind.

Stayed 2 nghts in December, it's a good place to access trails and the Ocoee and still car camp. There was only one other site occupied on the opposite side, but the sites seem pretty close together. I wouldn't camp here during peaks season.
Bathrooms clean and well maintained.
