Look Rock Campground

Facilities are in good shape, clean, and well taken care of. Campsites are very nice and have separation. Some of them do back up to private homes. Good roads for kids to ride bikes or walk. Convenient to several areas in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I would 5-star it if it had showers, even if they were pay-per-use showers. Campground host was friendly and helpful.

We wouldn't come back to this campground. Overall it is okay, bathrooms were clean enough, but amenities are lacking (no showers, sinks broken, no water at sites, no firewood to purchase). Poison ivy was everywhere, which was stressful with two little kids - we also got two ticks just sitting at the sites, not hiking or in deep brush. Very hilly, unable to use bikes. Lots of driving activity in the grounds since its one big loop, and load road noise too.

Site 33 is one of the better sites in this campground, with flat area and space... but directly adjacent to the RV sewer dump station which we didn't realize, not the most pleasant. Sites are lacking in privacy and space, but it is in a pretty area and the lookout tower hike is nice.
Pros: shaded, lots of trees for hammocks
-Saw a beautiful mama black bear and her two little cubs

Okay for if you need a place to sleep, would not come out of my way to come here.

I went on a not so busy weekend. Was clean, the host was nice, and I had great neighbors. I walked to the tower one morning, and drove to do a short hike on the gold mine trail. Very relaxing trip!

Beautiful park up in the hills, close to Great Smoky Mountains NP. We were fortunate to see black bears in the campsite area. Very clean facilities and helpful staff

Too much traffic on the parkway. Very noisy. People drive through the campground very fast. Not relaxing at all

Beautiful site

We stayed in sight 68. It was very close in proximity to site 67, but it worked out fine because the way the trailers were configured. We had fire pits on opposite sides of the trailers. This is a small, very quiet, out-of-the-way campground which we loved. If you don’t want to drive an hour to see anything, this is not the campground for you but for us, it was perfect! There was a lot of mention in the reviews about the loud Parkway. There are some extremely loud motorcycles and muscle cars that speed by after their trip through Deals gap. It is obnoxious to say the least. I can see that in the summer, weekends and holidays this would definitely be an issue. For us, we were there on a relatively rainy couple of days before memorial day during the week so it was not an issue, as it was not constant. I imagine it definitely can be though.

Beautiful drive up the Foothills Highway. Campsite and bathroom facility were easily accessible, clean, and beautiful! Close to the Look Rock observation tower, which was a must-see.
