The wind was really bad when we were there. Not sure if it like that all the time, but the tent pads could not hold stakes and I had to tie our tent to the car, brick column, and picnic table to keep it from blowing away. My friend felt all the gravel through her sleeping pad. The only plus was that the store location was convenient and the bathrooms were well-maintained.

I cannot believe I waited this long to visit Big Bend National Park. The park is gorgeous, with so many different opportunites for hiking, birding, and enjoying nature and the scenery. The Rio Grande Village camp site was excellent: easy to find, easy to find our spot (labeled daily with your initials), clean bathrooms with running water and a place to wash dishes, easy access to trails. The Village store showers were easy to use ($2 for 5 minutes, quarters available at the camp store). Everyone was friendly and respectful (employees, volunteers, and visitors) and you just can't beat the views. There is internet at the centers and stores, so you're not totally offgrid. Bring your passport if you want to offically go into Mexico (and not just hop stones across the Rio Grande). I live in rural Texas, and the recycling was better at the park than at my house, plus I love that the each campsite provided a safe place to store your food from wildlife like bears (we did not see any).

Campground was neat and clean. The worst part was the burros making noise all night, but it was part of the experience!

Amazing campsite with the most friendly camp hosts. Unique in that Wildlife frequent the area, from cows, horses, donkeys and Javelina. Showers could use some upgrades, but otherwise excellent!

Be prepared for animals around the campground, javelina, donkeys, horses, etc. The drive to St Elena canyon is highly recommended. Get there early if you want to do the hike. There is some moderate climbing involved. We were there around 2 pm,100° so we did not do the hike. People coming back said it was a great view. Maybe next time

Such a wonderful place to explore. Gina and Cory, our camp hosts were wonderful. We saw a Vermilion flycatcher, Havelina pig, wild burrows, road runners, and half a hundred turkey buzzards. We experienced all four seasons in the seven days that we were there. From 104°F to a beautiful rain and our breath puffing in the cold air on the last morning we were there. We took a wonderful adventure horseback trip in Boquillas Mexico, with Edgar Ureste. Highly recommend, it was wonderful. I had wonderful cell phone coverage at the bridge. Five minutes away. And the Wi-Fi at the visitor center is fast and reliable. Thank you!
