The site itself is nice. There is a bit of a slope from the level gravel to the grassy area. In addition, the shade structure doesn't cover late afternoon sun which is the hottest part of the day. Otherwise the restrooms were clean and the sunrise from the nearby nature trail was unbeatable.

Caution: Some of the campsites are “no generators,” so be observant about what you are reserving. Regarding camping here, we had a wonderful time! Beautiful views, and close to hiking and a campstore.

Rio Grand Village is a nice campground but is definitely hotter than Chisos. It is not far from the main store with laundry and pay showers. The campground we were at did not seem to have power, water or sewer.

Nice camp hosts who very helpful when campers nearby had a troublesome neighbor.
Clean sites, easy walk to river.
Do bring passports if you wish to cross the river to the village of Boquilles and research when crossing is open.

The process to get a camping site was challenging to say the least. Once there we found many (like dozens) sites not filled for the entire week we stayed. No electricity was a concern but even though I knew it going in was a bigger challenge than I thought it would be.
Would I do it again? No not a chance.
The reservation process is the sole reason I wouldn’t do it. Why the two week BS when there were dozens of spots not used. Is it because we need to have reservations well in advance for a three month vacation spending over several weeks.
The park could easily be made a first choice spot with little improvement and with little to no cost. Showers would be helpful when no electricity or water is made available just to name one.

It was a amazing experience there is so much the park has to offer from kayaking through the canyon to all the hikes. The stars at night were something unique.
