All of Big Bend National Park is fantastic, but overall, Rio Grande Village is fabulous! At the campground, the hosts were friendly and present, but not imposing or intrusive. The facilities were clean and the campground was very nice. Unfortunately, there are always one or two campers that are not cognizant or don't care about etiquette, walking through campsites more than the wild javelinas! The workers at the camp store were ALL friendly. The volunteers at the visitor center were helpful and humorous. My experiences in all the areas of Big Bend were pleasant, but none of them can hold a candle to the Village section. The drive to Elena Canyon, Chisos Basin and other points of interest were not too far and there were many stops along the way. Hot Springs was great with a short hike along the Rio Grande River and the longer mile loop up the bluff is worth it! I decided to do the Dugout Well Desert Trail and Dinosaur Discovery Exhibit on my way out and glad I did. Staying in Rio Grande Village was the best choice because at the end of a long day exploring, I was glad to have less people around for evening hikes or just hanging at my campsite. Night gazing was amazing on the clear nights, too!

Great location, great campground, we were there specifically since this area is a dark sky park and at 4 AM we were going to be getting up for the lunar eclipse. Right during the middle of that, and there were dozens of people out there, the campground host got up and turned her outside white lights on, kept getting in and out of her truck which turned her headlights on, and then started driving all around the campground in her golf cart with all of her bright white lights on. You would think somebody hosting in a dark sky Park would have a little bit more knowledge of what’s going on around them.

This is a nice, private site for a campervan. It is in the no generator zone, but very close to it, so you definitely hear nearby generators running. Restroom was clean. Very convenient to nearby trails. Lots of birds/birding in the area.

It worth staying... our first visit.. I did not understand the the gov sites were ALL no service and the serviced ones were operated by a private company.. thats why I did not get any waitlist notifications for those as you have to call for the serviced ones. Also, the showers are part of the private company and they charge $2 in quarters... All in all a great park just very dissapointing that it is not better served by the park service. If we went again we would stay out of park and drive in

Very large campground on the banks of the Rio Grande. Fairly well maintained, with flush toilets, pay showers, camp store, laundry, and gas. A limited number of RV sites with full hook-ups. Beautiful scenery, and a "port of entry" to visit a small Mexico border town, which exists off of tourism. Very unique experience!

Pretty area for a campground (I prefer remote/back country type). Best there spaces, very nice! Extremely clean bathrooms. Park host, Paula, very nice & stopped to confirm who I was, etc.. areas to run generators & generator free zones. Dump & refill station and store close by. Fresh water spigots within campground.
