The Park is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! We did enjoy our stay. That being said, the Winds in this Campsite are manifestly Hideous! I am quite sure that I am not the only one to complain about the lack of Wind Protection, and Did I happen to Mention the NIGHT-LONG-BURRO-MATING-CRIES! As I mentioned, this is the Most Beautiful Park we have visited. If it were not for the Winds that caused us to sleep in our Vehicle, as did many other Tenter's, and the Donkeys, This park would deserve 10 Stars.

Rio Grande Village was great. One issue regarding Recreation.gov was that the site showed that Cottonwood Campground at BBNP as being closed until November. While at BBNP I went by Cottonwood, only to find it open with campers staying there. Had the website been correct , we would stayed at Cottonwood. As it was, we had to resort to staying at a rv park in Study Butte.

Bathrooms were very clean easily accessible. It is one of the only campsites, lacking and awning, which would’ve been nice.

This campground was fantastic, and we enjoyed our stay. We were woken up by braying donkeys at night a couple of times though. Will definitely be back!

Nice and quiet camping. The sink to wash dishes were not usable due to lighting fail and foul smell.

Not the fault of the NPS, but it was extremely windy on the second day with dust in the air. Difficult to eat at the tent site, so ended up leaving two nights early. Moreover, the birding on the boardwalk and the cottonwood trees was disappointing which was one of the major reasons for tenting at Rio G. The store was poorly stocked and the showers were primitive. All and all for us for the two days for us, it just was not a pleasant place to be.

We were in rio grand village campground on the tenting side. The bathroom and the mens room had no lights no soap and no towels to dry hands.

We stayed at both of the Rio Grande Village campgrounds - the one with full hookups and the one without. The campground with the hookups is pretty basic and definitely not as scenic, but having the electricity to run the A/C in our van during the hot weather was really nice. The WiFi at the campground store was really reliable and we had no problems getting a signal while we were close to the store. The staff at the store were really friendly and helpful and the store was stocked with all the essentials, including gas and diesel - nice since it was about an hour drive to the nearest town. The Rio Grande Village campground is really close to the boat launch area and several hiking trails so it's nice that you don't have to get in your vehicle if you don't need to. I would definitely recommend staying at this campground if you're visiting Big Bend - just keep your eye on the weather and plan accordingly for the heat.

Camp was in great condition, as always. Very quiet as well. The weather was a little hotter than we would have preferred, but had a wonderful experience anyway. Highly recommend this campground if you are looking to get away from everything and everyone.
