What Guests Are Saying
Holiday, Texas offers a well-maintained campground with spacious sites and beautiful views of the lake, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and the abundance of wildlife, including deer and turkeys. While some facilities, like the bathrooms, could use updates and there are occasional maintenance issues, overall, guests enjoy their stays and often return for the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location near Fort Worth.

Sub-zero Weather! There's something to be said for the beauty of the campground when it's nearly empty and so very still and quiet outside. We had a great time on several 1 to 3 mile walks, and our Siberian Huskies were absolutely jazzed about the freezing temps! With our site right by the lake, we had several beautiful photos that seemed to capture the stillness and the cold. Too, we had great 50 amp power delivery the entire time, and that helped take the edge off the otherwise very cold temps.
Not to take away from the beauty of Benbrook Lake or the kindness and help of the campground caretakers, but we weren't quite as ready for the cold as we thought we were. This sub-zero cold was a first for us, and we we were mostly prepared! 1) Fill fresh water tank while you can get water, 2) Disconnect your external water hose, & 3) Leave heat on in the trailer! Did that work? Well...yes and no. It was so cold, our fresh water tank delivery had frozen too! Also our external black and gray water dump lines and waste gates got frozen...even when we were able to open the waste gate, the lines were frozen for several inches back from the gate and we couldn't flush the system! We did see a couple of camping neighbors who had better insulated spigots, hoses and connections, and they probably kept their water dripping through the day (which we didn't think to do). Alas, we had to resort to getting water in the bathhouses (much better insulation) to use for flushing. Other than that, we minimized our use of dishes and other to avoid having to clean up, and kept the inside of the trailer warmer with our internal electric "fireplace" and the propane heater as needed. Oh, the electric blanket REALLY helped for comfortable sleeping!
We learned a LOT, AND it was a very enjoyable experience. And being so close to Benbrook, we always had the Walmart nearby for emergency supplies...a big plus! All in all, highly recommended!

Spent Christmas 2022. Nice quiet stay. We had time for family in Ft.Worth and huddled up inside when at the park. Four days of below freezing temps. Will return for sure when we can enjoy being outdoors.

Front gate staff not familiar with the park. Low hanging limbs could be a issue for some Class As. Deer and turkeys behind our site and nice elbow room between sites. We are big fans of COE campgrounds - a little trimming and a lot of training would go a long way at Holiday.

Loved the site, nice few of the lake, lots of deer activity. Nice & secluded except for the one other site next to it was too close

We've stayed at South Holiday Park several times and have always had an excellent stay. This time it would have been excellent as well except the showers located near the cabins did not have any hot water and the women's were infested with wasps! The weather was about 40 degrees and a hot shower would have been really nice. The other showers located near the gate had only 'warm' water. The park itself is really peaceful and quiet with rv spots spaced generously. Since our last stay a year ago, the power pedestals have been upgraded and include lights.

This is a great place for snow birds if you like the Ft Worth area. You can get an extension of time during the winter months. Gate staff and Ranger are very friendly. We love the spread out camping spaces as well.

The park is great. However someone who full times in the camper had their music blasting and the bass was carrying through the area. Then he decided he wanted to do a full blown repair of his toy hauler. The impact drill was going non stop for what seemed like hours well into the night. Someone needed to tell him to shut it off. One person moved spots after one night being next to him.
The camp host was really nice. Facilities were clean and I would return.

Love the park and the hosts are fantastic. Bathrooms are in need of a serious upgrade -they are clean, but water was ice cold in one bathroom and Luke warm at best in the other. The only negative about the park.
