Sometime your Hostess is over the top but I know she is looking out for the park. I wish there was a little focus on site paving- Site 57 needs asphalt repair badly.

Average campsite, nothing spectacular.
Main complaint is my troop was told conflicting information on use of the established fire pits. A volunteer stated we couldn’t use it due to a burn ban. A park ranger said we could. No documentation or resources was provided for further information when asked. My troop is not planning on ever returning to this park based on the experience from the park staff and volunteers.

Always have a great stay at Jim Hogg. We had a site with a lake view. The sites are also large and has a covered pavilion at each site. Only down side on this last visit was a County burn ban due to dry weather, but that’s to be expected during dry spells in TX.

It's flexible that they allowed us to check in sooner when the previous group left before 3pm. Restroom is close to our campsites and it's clean (not too clean though). We booked a 50amp campsite and it has 50amp, 30amp and regular outlets which is great. You expect to hear strange sound at midnight when animals go out and find food :-). I'll definitely recommend this park for camping for everyone.

This was our second trip to Jim Hogg campground. We were there in Feb of 24 after an ice storm that tore down many of the trees in the park. Was pleasantly surprise to see that almost all of the broken trees and branches were picked up and hauled off. Our site was fairly level with no issues there. Nice shade trees and park was very clean. Liked that the park is locked 24 hours a day, need a pass code to enter. We have never seen so many children running up and down the park streets on the weekends, really fun to see and great that parents are getting their kids out in nature. Lots of deer as well. The bathrooms are pretty typical for campgrounds clean enough and showers worked well.
