About Dana Peak

Dana Peak Campground is located on a peninsula on the shoreline of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and more. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake and often fills up on weekends during summer. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

Electricity didn't work on site 18. Luckily we didnt have any neighbors so we used the plug between sites 18 and 19..

It would be helpful to have a separate lane to enter the park for those returning after a trip out of the park. The line was really long to get back in.

I made a reservation at Dana Peak for 3 nights and 4 days. The site was just perfect for a tent. We truly enjoyed everything this park has to offer.
PROS: (1) Site has electricity and water hook ups, which is truly a blessing because my wife and I use a CPAP and we were hoping the site we picked had in fact both utilities functional. (2) Location from the rest of the park, and the fascilities ie Bathroom, showers, beach, etc. was very convinient tduring our stay. Big +

CONS: (1) The bathroom in general can use more attention. There were a substacial amount of trash in and around the bathroom/ showers by the tent camping sites. There were no toilet tissue (even though everyone is supposed to bring their own) the bathrooms were not swept nor clean during our entire stay. The shower can use some serious scrubbing. Is a shame the shower is well build and painted, great flloor and wall tiles, but it is not mantained at all, The shower walls will confirm my comment.
Other than the fascilities, the park is well mantained and in excellent shape and the personnel are extremely friendly and helpful. will definetly stay again and recommend this park to friends and family.

Beautiful lake, nice park. It was extremely windy when we were there, and there are no trees. Had originally planned to stay in the non-electric tent sites, but a water source is quite far away.

The gate attendant was very pleasant and courteous. She had our ticket ready and informed us how to get to our campsite. The site was very clean and the grounds was also very clean and well kept. The restroom was clean and had been upgraded to make it very comfortable. We will definitely camp here again and refer this campground to our family and friends.
