About Dana Peak

Dana Peak Campground is located on a peninsula on the shoreline of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and more. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake and often fills up on weekends during summer. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

Our trip to Dana Peak was very enjoyable. The park has massive grassy areas for our dogs to enjoy, the facilities were very clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. We look forward to visiting again.

Beautiful park, friendly staff, very scenic and uncrowded camp sites, wide open spaces. A real place to relax and recharge without traffic noise.

We loved the park. Did not like the loud music after 10 both nights. Thought there was a noise ordinance?

Lots were clean, park was clean and the stay was mostly quiet. But a a lakeside lot, there are some moments not so quiet, but never overly loud. The coots were in, and did some some geese and even a small flock of swans. It was actually one of our best visits.

The park is kept exceptionally clean. It was quiet for the most part. On the weekends some visitors got a bit noisy, but nothing unacceptable. Lived our visit. On the waters edge. Only bad part was the picnic table furnished had old drying wood and I got a splinter..lol

Nice clean park. Restrooms were clean, just make sure to bring your own TP as they were out a couple times. Also, when we were there the county was on a burn ban and not even fires in the fire ring were allowed. You might want to check into that first if you enjoy an evening fire with roasted marshmallows.

Only issue that I had was the massive amounts of fire ants. Luckily I had some any killer at home and brought it with us just in case.

Beautiful lake. The hiking trails were nice, and getting to the very top of the peak is well worth the challenge. Our only complaint was the amount trash found on some of the trails including near the very top of the peak. It’s very sad to see that people will trash natural resources this way.
