As an annual trip I look forward to it above the several others each year. The diversity of hikes and terrain make it an unending panorama of beauty.

The views are beautiful, the air is dry and warm, the setting restful.
The drive south of Moab, UT takes an hour and one-half. The map seemed to suggest a quarter hour. I actually did not stay at the National Park, but at the park owned by the Bureau of Land Management.

The views, hiking opportunities and the "back road" to the south entrance are truly unique.

Canyonlands has something for everyone. Nice moderate hiking trails for less experienced hikers, to crazy insane trails for the experts. Be prepared, dehydration is the biggest threat you'll encounter if you overlook your checklist.
