Beartree is a well-maintained, quiet campground with nice privacy and clean facilities, offering a wonderful camping experience. Many sites are fantastic, although some require significant leveling, and the infrastructure could use upgrades. Overall, it provides a beautiful, woodsy atmosphere ideal for a relaxing retreat.

Private sites. Beautiful rhododendrons and hemlocks. Close to the AT and Creeper Trail. Not far from Grayson Highlands. Great fishing in the lake. Many baby catfish which were adorable. No cell service. Clean bathrooms. We would definitely come back.

Great cozy tent site looking into the woods! Especially good with friends in a camper on site 8.

The hosts were awesome. Kept the bathrooms cleaner than I’ve ever seen before. Super friendly and helpful. Made the entire trip that much better! Thx

I grew up going to Beartree but hadn't been back since 2002. It was just was wonderful as I remembered! I love that the sites are private in spite of being close. Everything was well maintained and clean. One bathroom was out of order which made things a little difficult for my by boyfriend over the weekend and that was the only time the bathroom was unclean. I put this down to an increase in kids over the weekend a less facilities. The hosts were wonderful and I really appreciated them suggesting small, local businesses when we stopped with questions. I own a small business and appreciate knowing they are valued by your staff. We enjoyed the Virgina Creeper, walking around your beach, Backbone Rock, and Grayson-Highlands National Park during our stay. Thank you for a wonderful week in the woods. We will be back!

Our site (55) was exactly what we love - lots of space and privacy. There was no cell service, which is always a plus for us. And the star gazing on a clear night was fantastic. Our biggest disappointment was the bathhouse situation. Only 1/3 was open for the entire Bearver Flats loop. It was also in need of some TLC.

Beartree is always a step back into the remote Appalachian with the rhododendron hells and thick birch trees and hemlock. The site was fine - although back in a pop up for some sites (like 73) takes a little talent. Our bathhouse was good until the drain system overloaded - so had to migrate to another bathhouse for rest of stay. Wonder why the lake and swimming area were closed?

Peace with nice isolated spaces due to the growth around each site. Only disappointment was that only one bathroom was working. This was difficult with site over 2/3 full.

We love Beartree. My husband and I both made reservations and I cancelled mine on line. Later checking our account the cancellation did not go through. I made many many calls to try to get my money back to no avail. I was highly disappointed. We will still come back just because we like it so very much. It is so beautiful and family friendly. Would like to be able to ride horses there. Thanks

The site was super- lots of clustered trees for privacy and large and well kept. The rest rooms were clean and didn't stink. Close to the Creeper trail and Damas is without being right onto of other campers. I caught hff t a rumor that this campground may be shuttered. That would be an absolute shame! This campground is a hidden jewel and I truly hope the rumor is false! I want to camp there again this summer.
