Great location for biking on Virginia Creeper Trail. Beautiful sites with plenty of privacy. Bathrooms were clean as well.

We love this campground. It’s close to lots of fun and beautiful places, there’s lots of shade, the sites are mostly very private. We will keep going back.

This campground is in desperate need of repairs. The bathrooms are falling apart and the plumbing frequently fails. The campsites haven’t had new peagravel in at least five years, maybe longer. Please fix this campground. We have family memories here and we don’t want to go somewhere else.

We have visited Beartree twice. The sites are clean and the people friendly. I like that the campsite is tucked away from light pollution and highway noise.

The campsites were nice and secluded with plenty of shade cover from trees and wood coverings. The sites have a nice gravel pads and fire pit rings with lantern hooks. Everyone we met there were nice and very helpful. I only have one negative comment to make about the loop we stayed on. I chose the site so we would be close to the bathhouse but it was out of order and it seemed to have been out of order for a long time. On the website it was not noted that it was not in usable condition. It would have been nice for the website with that park to be noted somewhere so I could have chose another site. With that being said we had a rather far distance to the other bathhouse. Distance wise, Bear creek was about 30 minutes from downtown Damascus but it wasn’t a bad drive. Kinda curvy but your in the mountains so that’s to be expected. You seem to be about halfway up the mountain and closer to the start of the Creeper Trail. The scenery was nice along the roadway to the park. For those wanting to be off the grid there seemed to be absolutely no cell phone service in the park. We might have got a little service near the bathhouse but it was nearly nothing. We didn’t get to explore all the park had to offer because we used our time on the Creeper Trail but we can’t wait to go back and adventure out to the lake and beach area. We will definitely stay here again.
