We absolutely love it here! We brought our toddler here for the first time and he had a blast playing on the playground. We’re already planning our next trip!

Four of us stayed at site 25 in the chipmunk circle from 6/30-7/3. The sites are surrounded by rhododendron making them feel private and jungle-like. The bathrooms are okay, just maybe don't touch the walls with all the bugs. You'll be okay. All part of the camping experience, I suppose. At least there are showers (metered kind) w/ hot water. No reception, but you're only ~20min from Damascus. Great place to make basecamp and see Whitetop mountain for sunset (watch out for deer) or summiting Mt. Rogers. I'd come back to try the Creeper Trail. For $22/night it's a really cool campground.

Campground looking good! Recently pruned and treated. Bath houses clean and working. Multitude of birds serenading. Still our favorite place!!

We loved our stay at Beartree! Our site felt beautifully private, and there was a tumbling stream at the back. We hope to return for another few days in the fall.

Had a nice time despite constant rain. The campgrounds are getting run down and are in need of some upkeep and repairs. The lake and pavilion are in a sad state of decline.

Love this Campground, close to the Creeper trail & Mt Rogers State Park.
nice trails right from the Campground.
Needs repairs, but ok if you have your own bathroom.
Hosts have always been very nice.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Beartree. That said, the site we reserved ahead of time was supposedly a group site and is advertised as being able to hold 16 people. We had two pop-up campers and it was very tricky to get them both on that site. In fact, one was halfway off the side of the pad. It was very frustrating for us to find that we had paid for a double site when it ought to have only been considered a single site. If we come back, we will just go ahead and get two sites because that "double" was a joke! I have no idea why the campground people think it can hold 16! Even just with tents that would be next to impossible.
