Visited in late October... Anita was an excellent and helpful hostess. The sites were mainly private and had a sense of seclusion due to rhododendron screening. It was peaceful and quiet. The dump station has been nonfunctional for a long time, and the facilities are getting a bit run down. Some restrooms are closed. The swimming area, which looked like it was once very nice, had been closed down since Covid and looked neglected and unusable and perhaps may never reopen (?). Since so many campers now use RVs or trailers, it is important to repair the dump stations. The National Forest (and most people) don't want anyone to discharge waste water on FS grounds, so updating the dump stations is important. Beautiful, slightly remote campground, but it needs some TLC. Hint: Grayson Highlands State Park--hike to see the wild ponies and gorgeous mountain balds.

Very nice isolated campground. Plenty of room between sites. No cell service. Need to spend some money and repair sewer system so all bathrooms work.

Very hard almost impossible to connect with anyone for canceling and getting a refund due to death in the family. Still have no word of my refund request even was processed. Lost over $150.

Beautiful campground. It’s very secluded make sure you bring firewood we could not find any and had to find deadwood around the campground. Loved the lake there were some great fishing spots.

The staff were very helpful! The campsites are surrounded by lots of trees and bushes, so there is a great amount of privacy.

The men's and women's sides of the bathhouse were closed. We had to make do with a single porta-potty with no hot water for our side of the campground. Sure hope this is addressed before we go again.

Great place to camp before or after riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. The bath house needs some maintenance (the door to the toilet stall was literally rotting off its hinges) but basically works.

Older campground. Very rustic, & quiet with no hookups. The only negative was the dump station was "not working". Had to leave with full tanks! :(

Beautiful location, easily accessible to good hiking trails. Camp manager was nice and helpful. Good sized campsites with privacy provided by rhododendrons. Definitely recommend!

Have stayed at Beartree many times. It’s convenient to Damascus. I recommend this campground. It is generally clean and quiet.
Downside of this visit was that the three bath houses on Chipmunk Circle were all closed due to maintenance issues. Have never encountered this before. We were able to access other bath houses in a different area, so all was not lost.
