What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

it was late in the season, mid week and First Come First served but very few people so our experience might not be typical of most6 campers.
The rangers were helpful, the campsite was quiet. It would be nice if there was a dump station and water fill at the campground though.

Campground was very clean, including the bathrooms, and peaceful. I didn't know if I should expect showers but there were not-- I might have just not looked adequately when selecting this campground though. No complaints. Very happy to stay here and be able to start my hike first thing in the morning already in the park avoiding all the traffic. 10/10.

Conveniently located next to some fun filler hiking trails as well as one of the lodges. Facilities were fine and first come first serve was really appreciated.

Host was very helpful. Campsites were clean and spacious. Bathroom was typical, a bit worn and dated but otherwise clean. Very convenient location to see Mt Rainier.

Great campground. Clean, spaced out well, flushable toilets and convenient access to everything Paradise has to offer. I would definitely camp here again.

Great place for camping and visiting National Park. Tap water was fresh and good to drink. And it is inside National Park.

Stayed there on a weekday after Labor Day weekend. Able to obtain a campsite right away. Quiet throughout the night. Has bear box, grille (this was restricted due to fire risk), picnic table. Bathroom has mirrors, paper towels, flush toilets. Easy access to trail heads in the Longmire area.

Camping Facilities were clean. We chose campsite A-10. Fairly level and easily held our 8ftx9ft tent.
Park Rangers were awesome! Very helpful and informative!
Very close drive to Paradise Visitors Center (20 minutes)
Just across the road from Cougar Rock Campground is the Wonderland Trail. Incredible mountain view and walk along the Nisqually and Paradise Rivers on the easy to moderate hike. You can hike up 1.1 miles to the Carter and Madcap Falls. Hike an additional 1.5 miles past Carter Falls to see Narada Falls. (or you can access trailheads via your vehicle on drive to Paradise Visitors Center, but the trailhead parking areas can be crowded in the afternoons) Recommend doing Reflection Lake early morning as the Sun is behind you and the wind is usually calm that time of day for best pictures. Tons of hikes originate from Paradise Visitors Center.
