What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

They assigned us this campsite and it was RIGHT next to R13. No WAY would we ever choose this site if we were given the choice. Camping with a friend? Awesome. Stranger? Awful.

Loved the fire pit area surrounded by stars and trees slightly off to side from our RV. Great to walk across road to Nisqually river - and up to Carter falls. Best tasting water we ever had also!

We were surprised to get a site in July at Mount Rainier but it was very nice, picnic area. Fire ring in good shape. The park ranger who signed us in was very nice.

Frustrated that there was no dump site and not noted ahead of time and the bathrooms left a lot to be desired

Our campsite was fairly private and quiet. We had a picnic table, fire ring and bear box. They kept the bathroom clean. The whole area is so beautiful. I would definitely stay there again.

Very nice campground. Lots of sites but still feels very private as there are lots of trees between each site. It's nice to have a place to park an RV and a flat spot for a tent or a kitchen area. Nice bathrooms. Easy walk to trails and access to both paradise and Longmire. Only issue is firewood. They state that firewood should come from no more than 50 miles away which is completely understandable. However the firewood avilable for sale at Longmire is $15 per bundle. They had one bundle available and it had 5 pieces in it. Small pieces....So each small piece of wood was $3. Yet, they are in the process of thining the diseased trees around the campground and there are hundreds of downed trees. Needless to say people have been taking wood from these. When you make something prohibitively expensive you encourage people to use other resources.

Exceptional campsite, in the middle of the dense forest. It has no bear box, so you have to put everything back in your car. No firewood for sale at the campground, the store in Longmire sells bundles at $15 each. Wildlife seen: 1 bunny. Great campground for hiking Panorama.
