What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

A classic, old-time, national park campground in a mature forest with private, secluded sites. Relaxing and quiet!

The site did not have a lot of privacy in the direction of the picnic table and firepit. We were able to orient our vehicle in the other direction giving us a very private space over a forested small ravine. The overall campground is huge and made for a great morning walk with the dog.

Cougar Rock Campground was an ideal place to explore Mt Rainier National Park. There is an easy -.5 mile hike to o Longmire and various trailheads and a short drive to Patadise and many more higher elevation trails, falls, and glaciers.

Pleasant, well tended camp site and bathrooms. Felt fairly private despite the campground being full. Easy walk across Paradise Road to pick up the Wonderland Trail and get incredible views of the mountain and Paradise River. Would definitely camp here again!

My biggest reason for giving a 5 Star review is simply because there were National Park employees in the campground. Over the last several years I have seen this type of customer service erode to a total lack of presence in our National Parks. The ranger we spoke with filled us in on how to get a first come first serve site the following day. Simple info to pass along first hand, but almost impossible to find online. Also, props to the govt for hosting their own reservation service with no fees. Wish State Parks would do the same thing!
