What Guests Are Saying
Big Pines Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting along the Yakima River, with spacious sites and excellent access for river activities and nearby hiking. Guests appreciate the clean restrooms and the serene environment, ideal for birdwatching and fishing. However, some visitors noted issues with train noise, site reservation mix-ups, and a lack of privacy due to close campsite proximity.

Our second time staying at Big Pines in June.
Pros:
-Beautiful scenery in the canyon
-Site 2 is right by river with easy access to go wade in water
-Site is large, level and has shade
-Weekdays are quiet and peaceful
Cons:
-Summer Friday and Saturday nights are party time, with no noise enforcement. Be ready for music, generators, and screaming swimmers past midnight.
-Only a handful of sites have shade and canyon is often very windy so making your own shade is also difficult. Canopies and awnings might not survive.
-Other campers and day users have a tendency to walk right in the middle of others’ campsites to get to the river or bathroom (especially site #1)

We hadn’t camped here before - a few things:
1) It’s a very nice site right on the water. Views are great.
2) Camping on the outer edge would have felt more private and
3) The campers next to us partied until 4 am and we didn’t find any noise rules on our reservation that gave us backup to ask them to quiet down.

The time of the camping was not a good time. Had lots of wind and a train at night across the river. Did have one good day and then the rain came. Nothing wrong with the place or the dry camping it was just the time of year. Yes, I would go back.

We were on a rafting fishing adventure and had a great campsite at a great price. Minimal amenities but a nice clean spot to camp.

Although the fishing was slow, the weather was great and we had good company. The camp host was also very friendly. The couple has been there for 3 years and has local contacts in case of emergency. Our kids somehow locked the keys inside the trailer and they had reception and a mobile lock smith to recommend.
If your up for a hike, there is a trail to the top of the canyon where you can see the river and campsite below. Round trip was about an hour and a half.
