For us, it was like returning back home. As child, I often visited a great aunt and uncle in the area of the campground. Our last camp outing brought back so many memories. We meet several new people and was able to share information with them about the area.
We have traveled through several states, but none of the places we have seen, can compare to Summersville Lake. The workers at the campground are always so friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The lake is beautiful. Surrounded by beautiful rock formation and forests.
Our children have always enjoyed camping, and we were able to camp with our older son on this trip. This was his first time out with his own camper. He shared the outing with us and several members of his police and firemen motorcycle club. Everyone enjoyed the outing and the lake.
We are planning to visit the site again soon.

The bath houses need improvements, A/C, better water pressure.
Hire summer help to gather driftwood from the lake. This could be used for firewood by the camp guest.
Build two boat docks around the camping area for the campers to dock their boats. This would help the elders to get on and off the boat.
Level up the camp sites. Make it better to level up ones trailer.

We love waking up to the beautiful lake. Best Summersville campground with lake access. If you come to WV you must stay at Battle Run.

Battle Run Campground is a waterfront campground on the beautiful Summersville Lake. The only way to appreciate this gorgeous lake and magnificent cliffs that surround most of it is to get on the lake and see it. The cliffs are not near the campground so to see them a boat or PWC is necessary if staying here. Otherwise, traveling to a boat ramp closer to the cliffs area would be advised for kayakers, paddleboarders, etc. There is also quite a bit of outdoor recreation available not far from the campground.
The campground has spacious sites situated in several loops and three conveniently situated bath houses with showers, flush toilets and laundry facilities. Drinking fountains are available in various locations. There is a very nice playground. There is a very well-maintained beach area across from the campground. No pets are allowed which allows for a peaceful camping experience. What is lacking on-site is firewood and ice. There is a Dollar General down the main road to the campground which is convenient if you have an extra vehicle to hop in and drive there.
I highly recommend this campground for an excellent camping experience and access to one of the prettiest lakes at which we have ever camped.
