Very nice campsite. Clean facilities, the camp sites were taken care of, the water was amazing, the playground was great and a nice distance from the tent sites. New River Gorge National Park is a must see in the area with great hiking and Summersville Lake is very clear and clean to swim and kayak in.
Downsides: tent site 1 is the most exposed out of all the tent sites but it is still tucked away a decent amount, A LOT of people walk thru this site to get to a good spot to cliff jump- including in the middle of the night, and a lot of people party very loudly until 12/1am and the park rangers did nothing.

Nice large COE campground with large sunny sites. Nearby New River Gorge and Gauley River have lots of viewing areas and trails. Summersville, WV is close by with shopping, stores, restaurants. The Rangers and also the host couple that checked me in were friendly and helpful.

its wonderful the lake is so clean so many hiking trails . The only thing is the tree limbs scratching your unit in various places, especially when backing into a lot of the spots!

My second visit. I like the campsites very much but was disappointed to see that the water had been drained about 20’ or more. I wasn’t aware that the lake is drained each year as the winter season approaches.
The site numbers on some of the sign posts were very difficult to read.
That said I would still go back again but during the summer season.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay with our 5 children. We enjoy being close to the lake as the children can spend a lot of time at the lake.

Our stay at Battlerun was only an overnighter. We were experiencing vehicle problems and headed straight back home the next day. However, Battlerun is a very nice campground and we will undoubtedly return. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
