What Guests Are Saying
Dead Swede campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and attentive camp hosts, making it one of the best camping experiences for many visitors. The beautiful location by the South Tongue River and opportunities for wildlife viewing, including moose and deer, enhance its appeal. However, some guests noted issues with site privacy and noise from nearby ATV traffic, which may detract from the experience for some campers.

The location is beautiful! The campsite was very clean and ready when we arrived. The camp host does an excellent job of keeping the area and bathrooms very clean.

Camp site and toilets were very clean thanks to the campground host. Unfortunately, the neighboring campsite used their generator all night long. We understood that generators were to be shut off at 10:00 pm until morning. Also, neighboring campsite brought deer corn to feed the deer in their campsite. Just not acceptable with chronic wasting disease in the local deer herd.

Clean, beautiful camp site! Was a moose right across the river multiple times during our stay. Very peaceful and relaxing.

That is one of the nicest facilities we have stayed at ,who ever built that campground knew what they were doing.

Dead Swede campground is very nice, The camp sites are far enough apart to enjoy your privacy, other campers were very courtis and quiet. The camp host was very helpful and polite and bathrooms were the cleanest I've seen any where. We will be revisiting this site in the near future.

This is our favorite campground in the Bighorns. Especially sites 12-16. One of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion. The sights are level and long great picnic tables and fire pit area. Have been here at least one a year for 25 years

We stayed in this campground 2 nights and loved it. Plenty of space between you and your neighbors. Due to it being an exceptionally wet year, the campsite we had the first night had standing water, which bred mosquitoes. We had a different site the next night and it also was a nice site. Our only "complaint" is that when we booked this online, it was booked pretty much solid. However, both nights we were there, at least 25% of the sites were unoccupied, including a site we would have LOVED to stay in. Even though no one was there, the reserved sign was posted by it, and many others. We used our side by side to go do some exploring, and I'm thrilled to say moose were plentiful! Saw a total of 14 (and a calf) over 3 days, and a pair of sand-hill cranes! I would love to visit this area and stay here again.
