What Guests Are Saying

Dead Swede campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and attentive camp hosts, making it one of the best camping experiences for many visitors. The beautiful location by the South Tongue River and opportunities for wildlife viewing, including moose and deer, enhance its appeal. However, some guests noted issues with site privacy and noise from nearby ATV traffic, which may detract from the experience for some campers.

We had a wonderful spot, right next to the stream. I was able to take my young grandson fishing right next to our camp spot. He caught a few fish and was very happy. There is 5 miles of gravel road to get to the campground with lots of ATV and UTV traffic. So it was dusty while traveling on the road. Out campsite was far enough away that this didn’t bother us much. My only recommendation would be for the camp host to hang a “Full” sign next to the entrance to discourage all of the pickups with campers and trailers from driving through the campground looking for a campsite and creating a lot of dust.

Campground was great. Good location. Nice level maintained pad, quiet at night, picnic tables were nice, shaded and spread out sites. Water was good, bathrooms were clean, garbage wasn't over flowing, close to fishing. The only negative aspect is the sound and dust from ATV's driving too fast by the roads near the campsite.

The campground was quiet, restrooms were clean, hosts were very friendly, and it was in a beautiful location. Definitely will try to camp here on an annual basis if reservations can be made.

We had such a fun time on our annual Family Camping trip & this was our first time staying in the Dead Swede Campground. It was clean, quiet, peaceful, and the weather was perfect. We had a 5th Wheel, our son & son-in-law & family had Toy Haulers. We enjoyed riding our 4-Wheelers on many of the trails, cooking outside, and visiting with our family!

We love dead Swede for our annual trip to the big horn mountains. It’s there best camping experience my family has ever had, and we look forward to visiting for many years to come.

No potable water was available at the campground until late June due to late well testing. Bathrooms that were open for use were very clean. Our campsite was quite dusty from ATV's on the nearby roads. It was also a windy campsite.
