What Guests Are Saying
Mammoth Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, convenient location near Lamar Valley, and friendly hosts who maintain a clean environment. Many campers enjoyed the spacious and accessible sites, as well as the wildlife sightings, particularly elk and bison. However, some visitors noted that only one bathroom was open during their stay, leading to inconvenience, and there were occasional issues with campsite reservations. Overall, it's considered a great spot for exploring Yellowstone, especially in the off-season.

Amazing location with fantastic view. Places for RVs and tents. Fire pits, public toilets and fresh water supply. No electricity, dumping station 20min away (in Gardiner at Sinclairs, 20$ fee). It was a real relaxing stay for some days :)

It is a nice campground in a beautiful location. It was very quiet, though mostly filled. But, then again, folks are here to cruise YNP to chase baby bison, baby bears, goats, sheep, & moose (we found all those). You put in long hours and the campground is just a place to lay your head to prepare for tomorrow's adventures. Staff was friendly and professional and had answers for all of my off-the-wall questions.
I hate to highly recommend this campground because it will draw more visitors and . . . yes, I'm holding it close to my chest so that no one else will see. Thanks, YNP Staff, scenery and wildlife.

We stayed at Mammoth for two nights on our recent trip to Yellowstone. The campsite was level and worked great for our van. The restrooms were clean and relatively close by. The sites were closer together than we usually like, but it was quiet and we enjoyed our stay. If you can get a site along the mountains (2-40 even #s) that would be ideal, enjoy!

It's great to have a place to camp during the winter months with heated bathroom. Reasonable rates for seniors, we can't afford to pay for hotels.

Nice campground for the winter, biggest plus is the heated bathroom with running water. Since there is only one available near the entrance the majority of campers set up near that area. Biggest disappointment was the Ranger coming by every morning at 8AM to check on my reservation. I had an 8 day reservation I showed him on the first day of camping (on the Rec.gov app) but he still came by every day to check. This was not a camp host, or a contractor, but a law enforcement park ranger. I would assume that he would remember that I was camping there and had paid my fee (since I was usually the only person camping there during the day) and did not need to check it every day. It's a little disconcerting having someone bang on the door of the RV every morning just to recheck something they should already know is good. And it was the same individual every day.....
