What Guests Are Saying
Mammoth Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with clean facilities and stunning views, making it a great base for exploring Yellowstone. Very unique stay. We camped in the winter and it was chilly but still so special. There were bison all throughout camp and elk all around. The bathroom facilities were fantastic and the volunteer hosts managing the campsite were extremely friendly. So close to mammoth springs - this place is phenmomenal!

Overall great experience. If you are tent camping at site 43, do note that the tent pad is right where the bison roam. It deemed too much for me at 2am so we went with plan B in the SUV - snorting and hooves stomping woke me right up haha. The elk and bison roam throughout the campground, nerve wracking for not being used to wild animals so close but such a cool experience.
Bathrooms are toasty warm and spotless clean.
There is no firewood sold at the campground, we went to the Mammoth store and the Cenex gas in Gardiner.

Very small campground, extremely close to mammoth hot springs. About 15min to exit the park (view the original northern entrance) and enter town where you can pay to shower, get gas and some over priced food. (Subway was our saving grace because they have set prices) the campground attendants where extremely friendly, but it was just not what we expected-compared to the other 2 campgrounds in Yellowstone we stayed in. There is a sort of town center up the road from the campground but everything closed extremely early and it’s inconvenient to have to drive 10min up the road to get anything you may need. There a lot of elk in this area and they bed down in the campground. We were told to leave our campground for nearly 45 min one evening because a male and all his ladies were just hanging out all over our site. Neat to see, but got old pretty quick because they are EVERYWHERE. Maybe it’s personal preference but we did not see the hype of this campground or area of Yellowstone that so many people chalked it up to be.

We were wonderfully greeted at the check -in, the sight was great not far to the rest rooms. We had snow and really cold temps so we had to cancel a few nights of our reservations, so I am looking into getting a refund. But if not it goes to a great place.

Nice campground with clean restrooms. Sites are fairly roomy with enough space between sites. We also got to see a herd of elk grazing from our campsite on the hill below the campground.
