What Guests Are Saying
Mammoth Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with clean facilities and stunning views, making it a great base for exploring Yellowstone. Campers appreciated the helpful staff, wildlife encounters, and easy access to nearby trails. While some restrooms were closed during certain seasons and check-in could be slightly confusing, the overall atmosphere remained peaceful and enjoyable for visitors.

We stayed two nights. One night we had a reservation. Then a week later, after the snow storm had passed we came back. Online it said the campground was full. We drove up and asked in person if they had any cancellations and they did! It was Thursday afternoon. The volunteer Janet Lacey was kind and professional. Their bathrooms are heated and clean. Lots of elk in the campground. Really. Absolutely gorgeous.

The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The campground was very clean. We were in a RV so can't comment on the restrooms. A perfect to stay while visiting Yellowstone.

Well maintained and clean. We camped there 10 years ago and each site did not have a bear box. Glad to see that each site does have their own now.
The only suggestion I would have is to have a dishwashing station near the bathrooms

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience. It was cool to hear the Elk at night and a great place for stargazing.

Despite being smack dab in the middle of the tent/car camp area (site 78 - with a nice shade tree), as well as being near the highway, the site was generally quite, sans one annoying neighbor shouting at their dog incessantly. The site, table and cooking grate were reasonably clean and level. The restrooms were clean and more developed than I expected (flush toilets). Staff, and most of the neighboring campers were very pleasant. We didn't get that vibe of being overtly supervised/policed. If you can get your reservation in early enough, the nicest sites appear to be along the periphery, especially on the north end of the campground.
