What Guests Are Saying
Burnt Corral Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting along Apache Lake, with friendly and helpful hosts. Many guests appreciated the spacious campsites, clean facilities, and peaceful environment, making it a great spot for water activities and nature enjoyment. However, there are concerns about pricing inconsistencies, restroom cleanliness, noise from other campers, and issues with trash management that detract from the overall experience.

I was so nervous to take my Honda Civic here based on the other reviews, but my car made it through the 6 miles of unpaved road. The campground is paved, has clean bathrooms, has tables and firepits in each campsite. There weren't many people this time of year so it was pretty quiet.

Nice clean campground. Space was nice and roomy. Camps were spaced out well.

We had a great time! The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly (gave our kids a craft gift bag). Since we stayed midweek it was pretty empty and we moved to a the 34H site which had a little private beach area. Our original site was beautiful but harder to access the water due to how steep the embankment was. Still a great site (amazing views!!)

Stayed here Apr 12-14...nice time of year to be here. Temps were 65-70 daytime and about 40 overnight. Campground is beautiful with great mountain scenery all around. If you are staying with a group using multiple sites, down by the water is great because they are next to each other with easy access to Apache Lake. My wife, kids and I were by ourselves, so we took site 27...IT WAS PERFECT. It was a little more private. Parking was level and so was the tent pad area behind the parking spot. The tent pad would also be perfect if you want to set up a hammock or two. Has a standing grill and a grill over a fire pit. Closest restroom is an easy walk, but not line of sight so you have nice privacy.
Overall, this campground was in very good condition. Reservations and payment via Recreation.gov were easy. Great experience, wish would could have stayed longer.

It's a beautiful spot. Just wish there were more pictures of each site. One we booked was tiny, and we were right up next to our neighbors. The drive to get there is rough, amazed that it's paved once you get to the site, but not paved before that. Would go again, just know now which spot i'd prefer :)

The location is beautiful but our experience was not great due to overfilled spaces and rude campers. Quiet hours were not enforced (loud music until after midnight), parking was a problem. Dead fish along the shore of the “beach” area.

Beautiful location, wonderful lake, amazing paddle boarding right from the campground. Our only issue was the amount of campers that were allowed to stay in one site. Some sites had 30-40 in them. The entire campground was completely over run, and over populated. (Thursday - Sunday stay). The bathrooms were a disgrace, and the sheer numbers of campers made for an unsustainable resource - which is a shame for such a beautiful place. We fished trash out of the water from campers we saw actually making the trash - in front of us. People were using the one water source at the end of the campground for bathing and brushing teeth. The bathroom scene was just awful, and totally overloaded with that kind of massive over use.

Beautiful spot but very loud on the weekends. Was well after 11 by the time the really loud music stopped one night. Unfortunately, it was too loud for many with young children to risk staying the full weekend and they went home early.
I was able to make it down the dirt road in a 2WD hatchback just fine. The road is steep and has many sharp turns but is in fine condition.
I was in site 67 which was near the water but didn’t have much water access as the sites on either side kind of took over that space. Just be aware booking these sites that the water side sites aren’t very well defined but the sites not on the water are very secluded feeling!
The only true complaint I have is that the restrooms were disgusting. I know this isn’t the fault of the camp host and don’t intend to place fault on them. But they were unusable they had been so destroyed. Even the latches on the doors were bent and broken by the end of the weekend in addition to trash and human waste being on the ground. Again, not the fault of the host but rather the guests.
Overall, it’s a great spot right on the water. Bring your inflatables and enjoy the lake! But it’s not the best place for a quiet camping trip with little kids.

They’re is dead fish everywhere on the rocks from the water. It’s sad I think they put something in the water. They had a public HEALTH sign on the right side on the way to the campsite. Besides that, wonderful
