What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers stunning views, well-maintained facilities, and friendly hosts, making it a popular destination for campers. Visitors appreciate the clean restrooms, proximity to the lake, and various activities like fishing and hiking. However, some sites are small and exposed, with limited shade, and there have been occasional reports of noise and theft. Overall, many guests express a strong desire to return.

We love how clean the grounds and bathrooms are and we love our spots with the beautiful view of the convict lake granite mountains. Everyone is very nice in the Convict Lake Store and they have a great selection of gifts.

This is a beautiful part of Calyfornia and Convict Lake area does not disappoint. The lake is great and you have near access to some of the best hiking in the world! Plus several hot springs within a short drive to soak in after those hikes. I've also never seen a campground crew work so hard to maintain a campground anywhere (they even rake your site before you arrive and as a tent camper, that is greatly appreciated). The only drawback to this campground is lack of shade so make sure you bring a shade structure as it can get toasty warm in the middle/late part of the day. Definitely one of the best campgrounds out there!

As you leave hwy. 395 to the hwy. turnoff to Convict lake, the view approaching the campground/lake is unbelievable. It's like eye candy. It's been on my list for years and I'm so thank that I finally made it. Walked around the lake a few times and
included a challenging hike to Lake Mildred. With the bridge out and the high water level, we were unable to get to our destination. The campground and bathrooms with flushing system are well maintained. It's was windy but it was only an issue when we tried to rent a pontoon. This place is quaint and very relaxing. We will be back.

First time here. Very open campground so we made sure to take our canopies. Overall nice experience. Lake is beautiful. Short drive (10-15 min) from Mammoth lakes. Bathrooms are very clean. Deer sighting is almost guaranteed. Campsites are small, but very clean and semi private. Nice weekend getaway.

Convict lake is beautiful. The two campsites we got were okay. One of them had large rocks sticking out of the ground and we were unable to dig them up. This mad tent camping very uncomfortable. One of the camp hosts (older gentlemen) was awesome and helped us out a lot. The other camp host (much younger) did not seem to pleased with questions we had, almost like we were bothering him.
If you are going to fish and you have several people in your group get out there early if the weather is nice. If you do not get there early you will lose spots to set up.
There were a lot of deer that came into the campgrounds. If you were going to fish take quite gear has the fish are smaller.
The weather hit us pretty hard our last two days and we left early. It got cold and very very very windy. I believe gusts of 50 miles an hour. My family will go up there again but will have to wait until my youngest is a little bit older due to the elevation change.
