We have stayed at Shady Rest before, it’s a nice little campground close to everything Mammoth has to offer. Site 47 was not our favorite spot, it was too close to other sites. I would choose another site next time. Cell service was good, shade was average, would be very tough for a large vehicle to park in this spot.

The campground was very quiet, it was a weekend and still very quiet. This is an older campground so the sites are spaced a good distance apart. Close to the main road and all the amenities in Mammoth. The entire place was very clean and the bathrooms in perfect working order. We have stayed at Old Shady rest, New Shady Rest, Coldwater and Twin Lakes. Love the Mammoth area, we will be back soon.

It's a good campground if you like camping in town. Not so good if you are looking for a wilderness experience. Facilities were well maintained. Camp ground host was nice.

We booked this campsite (#19) at Old Shady Rest campground as it is very close to the Mammoth off-road trail system. We were towing a 27.5' toy hauler with our Ram 1500. All of these campsites are positioned 90 degrees perpendicular to the very narrow one-way road and there are large rocks and old wooden posts near the road and the edge of the campsite, which made it very hard to get the trailer in the site. (Another couple a few sites down from us with a smaller trailer was not able to get their trailer in for these same reasons and ended up giving up!) While this campsite is nice and backs to the hill for great privacy, I do not recommend it for any trailers larger than 18 or 20 feet long.

Nice location, close to mammoth Main Street. A bit noisy because of the road, but its located in a woody area with a lot of sp ace for kids to play
