What Guests Are Saying

Summit Lake North is praised for its great location within Lassen National Park, offering scenic views, easy access to hiking trails, and a beautiful lake for swimming. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, some sites are closely spaced and lack shade, which may affect privacy and comfort.

Most campsites are really close together and the burn scar is noticeable. However, the location is really central to most sites/hikes in the park. We chose site A12 which turned out to be large and private. It was on a slope but there was a perfect flat spot for one tent more less at the bottom of the site. Very private for this campground. Only strange thing was that it didn’t have much of a parking space. Bathrooms were clean and stars were amazing. Overall it was nice.

Great campsite. The lake is shallow at the shore so it was perfect for the kids to play in. The bathrooms were clean and new. There are trails directly from the campsite and tons more within a 30 minute drive either way. Showers and a store are 20 minutes away at manzanita lake. We had an amazing week with three kids, not a ton of bugs, weather was perfect, mid 70’s during the day and mid 40’s at night. One of my favorite national parks we have been to, beautiful and that’s even with the burn areas.

So glad we stayed here instead of Manzanita Lake! Summit Lake North is much more pleasant for swimming as it has a sandy/digested granite bottom vs. mud and algae. It's shallow so the temperature was pleasant. We stayed in A16 which was one of two sites available when we booked so I figured it wouldn't be very nice because it was next to the road, but it was totally fine. Not much road traffic and it didn't bother us.

Beautiful lake, lovely campsites, flush toilets! Quiet and serene. Fascinating to see the contrast between healthy forest and the massive devastation of the 2021 Dixie Fire.

Nice campsite within 100 yards of a great little lake. Considering other campers were close by, it was relatively quite. Good facilities and good proximity to other destinations.
