We had site 8.
It’s not nice. Too close to neighbors, to main road, and to the camp road. No privacy. Zero foresty ambience.
In fact, we threw away our 2 nights and went over to Coldwater Campground. Much much nicer.

Other loops of Mary Lake CG looked acceptable.
Hosts were friendly and understanding.

The first afternoon we were approached by a very salty camp host. He was hostile at best. I had just unloaded our gear to set up tent when he and his wife approached in their golf cart. He yelling at me to get my vehicle off the dirt. I did not realize my back tires were on dirt. His wife ran to the bathrooms excited to lock them and announced they would be locked until 5pm or so. It was only 2pm! When I asked her if i could possibly use one really quickly, she said NO!! and triumphantly locked it! We were only there two nights but it was not a very good first impression, which are lasting. The next day host and wife returned and he apologized. Rightly so.

Loved the camp's location with gorgeous view of the lake and the mountains. Staff are very friendly. Enjoyed making campfires for the first time. Unfortunately, a bear ruined my last night there which was the reason that I decided not to camp at my next location.

Camp ground sites are very close together, but most have room behind for tents to spread out. Camp hosts work very hard to keep it clean and follow Covid guidelines. Beautiful location. Great place to acclimate to higher altitude before a backpack trip, which was what we did. Camp ground had a resident bear who wondered through every evening. So long as you kept food in the bear boxes there were no problems.

My friend and I stayed in Site 50 for one night before a backpacking trip. Overall, the site was nice, and the restrooms were very clean. However, several neighbors came by to tell us that bears had broken into the bear locker the previous night. Once we had loaded all of our scented items in the bear locker, we realized the key was stripped, and all of our items were locked inside. Eventually, my friend found a tool to open the lock. If you stay in Site 50, please check to make sure the bear locker has been repaired!

We love coming here for our summer get away. Thank you Cam and JD! They are amazing hosts. They really care about their campers and are so personable. The bathrooms are the cleanest we have experienced. We will definitely be back next year! Tom and Roz
